Te Kurī Cabins are a pair of compact holiday cabins designed to balance privacy with connection. Set into a steep hillside, the split-level design responds to the terrain while making the most of views towards Gisborne and Young Nick’s Head. Private decks give each cabin its own outdoor space, while a shared courtyard deck provides a place to come together.
The compact footprint is carefully designed for efficient living, with mezzanine bedrooms making the most of the available height. Prefabricated CLT panels form the structure, bringing exposed timber into the interior and creating a warm, simple material palette while supporting a fast construction process.
The cabins incorporate continuous external insulation and mechanical ventilation, with the design developed to target Passive House certification without compromising their compact form.
